Zulu
This picture was drawn in my Senior English class for an assignment over the book The Lord of the Flies.  I found a picture of a Zulu warrior in a National Geographic magazine and stuck a top hat on him to symbolize that there is a little savage in all of us and maybe a little class in the savages as well.  It was kind of a lame idea, but I was supposed to try to sum up the theme of the book with a picture.  This is the first drawing I had ever done using real drawing pencils and drawing paper.  I now know that there is no way one can get the contrast and smoothness with regular pencils and paper that you can with the real deal.  This drawing was good for me at the time, but I think it is a little splotchy.  I do like his expression, his pose, and his necklace, though.
