I don't really know much about Marla Hanson other than that she is or was a famous model who was involved in a highly publicized attack in Central Park.  I found her picture in Texas Monthly  and thought she was absolutely beautiful.  This particular photograph I thought was a testament to her beauty because of the fact that she is wearing absolutely no makeup, is in an expressionless pose, and is exposing one of her scars from her near brush with death.  The scar automatically implies a depth of character apart from her beautiful appearance.  Her posing in such a vulnerable way says that she does not have to hide who she is to be beautiful.
